Orient bay offers world-class windsurfing conditions. For many years, champions chose Orient bay resort for their windsurfing vaction to discover the neighbouring islands of Pinel, Tintamare and even St Barth! Nathalie Simon, Antoine Albeau, Thierry Belbeoch, Robert Teritheau, and of course Julien Quentel, the local heroe who trained on the Orient bay waters before becoming a champion.

The Bay strechs on 2,5 miles and is open on the Atlantic Ocean, so you can ride islands- to -islands easily. You can choose a protected lagoon (Orient bay lagoon), atlantic swell, turquoise clear waters around Tintamare.

St Martin received on average winds from 12 to 15 knots, but if you are lucky, you might have 18-20 knots, so the swell be be working on the windward side. Orient bay reef then receives the Atlantic swell that can reach 15 feet. The waves behind Green cay island (protecting Orient bay) are the biggest in St Martin and the east side of Orient bay is a perfect view to see the champions riding the swell.

From Orient beach, you may enter the small bay of Galion Bay. Be careful as the channel is very narrow with current. Galion bay is also pretty small (600 meters wide) with many surfers (kids) and kitesurfers, so accidents arrive frequently, so watch out everytime you jibe!
